So I'm suuuuuper late with this post! Actually I never intended for it to be a post but as I'm watching my daughter grow up so quickly I figured I would share.
You ever have one of those days that you can't wait for it to arrive and super sad when it's over. I had one of those days when my little princess turned the big ONE. I don't understand how time can literally fly. I now know exactly what everyone means when they say cherish these moments because they grow up so fast.
She's a December baby so what better way to celebrate than to have a Winter Onederland theme. I started with a Winter Onederland themed photo shoot and stationary and opted to do all of it myself.

As always I get much of my inspiration for crafts and stationary from Pinterest and this was no different. I combined 3 or 4 different invitation options and created my own. Some of which were mailed and some were electronically sent.
Next I had to think about the food. Even though it's a party for a 1 year old with lots of small children, I needed to think about the parents, after all they're bringing the kids. With the party starting at noon I wanted to make sure that everyone was satisfied when it came to lunch. For the kids, I served chicken nuggets catered by Chick-Fila, mini cups of Teddy Grahams, assorted fruit, apple sauce pouches and juice boxes. For the adults Chicken Salad Chick catered assorted chicken salad sanwhiches (we actually had an unplanned 2 hour tasting of all the flavors before selecting the top 3 to serve to our guests), assorted fruit, cheese and crackers, pasta salad and a Spinach and Kale soup which was a major HIT (thanks to Nana).
Although it's a Winter ONEderland, there wouldn't be any sign of winter during this celebration. I planned for the kids to be outside the majority of the afternoon, we created a play area with a tent and tunnels to crawl through with plastic pit balls. And since we're in Florida, I figured the only snow we would see would be the one I made, yes made. Simple recipe; shaving cream and cornstarch. Knead with your hands until it reaches your desired consistency. Add glitter if you'd like for visual effect. The kids had a blast making snowmen and snowballs.
The dollar tree provided some great decor for this theme, silver and white snowflake shaped ornaments and hanging decorations which hung all over the house and at the entrance. A snowflake banner hung over the food table that read "Naysa's Onederland." I managed to used left over Christmas ornaments and decorations to give the tables and room a Winter feel.

Did I mention I opted to create all of the stationary? And I had a blast doing it. Signage throughout the house directed the guests to various activities. But I had the most fun creating her "My First Year" poster that I hung above the sweets table. And speaking of the sweets table, we featured vanilla cupcakes, candy covered popcorn and melted candy dipped rice krispie treats.
A first birthday isn't complete without pictures to showcase the first 12 months. I found these adorable mini snowflake clothespins at Michaels for $1.50/6 pack and they fit perfectly with the theme.
All of our guests had a blast and so did we as we celebrated our sweet Princess First Birthday. Happy Birthday Naysa Brynn, enjoy your Winter ONEderland.
We're all working moms here so don't worry we'll be sharing more kiddo parties coming soon...very soon!
